Data deletion
This page explains how you can remove data associated with SynCam (synchronized photo and video capture for iOS) and how to manage information held by third-party services when you use optional sharing. It is published at https://syncam.pro for transparency and developer-console requirements (including Meta).
1. Data stored on your iPhone
SynCam keeps sessions, captured photos and videos, and edited outputs primarily on your device (local storage managed by the app).
- Delete in the app: Open Sessions, open a session, and use the delete actions SynCam provides to remove sessions or items you no longer want.
- Remove the app: Deleting SynCam from your iPhone removes the app’s sandbox data that iOS associates with the app, subject to how iOS handles app data removal.
- Photos library: If you used Save to Photos or sharing flows that add media to your library, those files remain in the Photos app until you delete them there like any other photo or video.
2. Local network and camera
SynCam uses the local network and camera (and microphone when you record video with audio) so nearby devices can join a session and capture together. Core session sync and media exchange occur between your devices on your network; SynCam does not operate a cloud service for that core flow.
3. Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
If you choose to share to Facebook, Instagram Stories, or TikTok, those services receive the content you share under their terms and privacy policies. SynCam does not control data retained by Meta or TikTok after you share.
To delete or manage data held by those companies:
- Meta (Facebook / Instagram): Use Meta’s account tools and Meta Help Center to review activity, downloads, and deletion options tied to your Meta accounts.
- TikTok: Use in-app settings and TikTok Help for account and content controls.
SynCam does not use Facebook to sign you into the app. Optional sharing uses the respective apps’ sharing flows when you explicitly choose to share.
